Curatorial statement by Susan Gibbs
This exhibition unfolded as an open-ended experiment in process and context, extending Bianca Hester’s interest in the contingent life of objects and their capacity to activate spatial rand social relations. Developed in response to the unique conditions of SOCIETY—a gallery attached to a domestic setting lived in and by curator Susan Gibbs—now demolished and replaced by luxury appartments—the work combined elements from previous projects with new constructions and improvised gestures. Materials such as bricks, tape, plasticine, magnets—operated both as autonomous sculptural forms and as props for actions, creating a dynamic tension between formal resolution and everyday reference.
